Our Professional Standards

At Ghythqueblghex, we maintain a professional studio environment that prepares students for real-world makeup artistry careers. These guidelines ensure a positive learning experience for everyone and reflect industry standards you'll encounter professionally.

Attendance & Punctuality

  • Arrive 10-15 minutes before class start time to set up your station
  • Attendance is mandatory for all sessions; missing more than two classes may affect certification
  • If you must miss a class, notify the instructor at least 24 hours in advance to arrange makeup work
  • Late arrivals disrupt the class; students more than 15 minutes late may be marked absent
  • Early departures must be pre-arranged with your instructor

Kit & Equipment Care

  • Bring your complete kit to every class; forgetting items impacts your ability to practice techniques
  • Clean brushes and tools before and after each use according to sanitation protocols
  • Never share personal makeup items with other students to prevent cross-contamination
  • Label all products with your name and keep track of your belongings
  • Report any damaged or defective products to your instructor immediately
  • Studio equipment must be cleaned and returned to its proper place after use

Hygiene & Sanitation

  • Wash hands thoroughly before touching any client's face or products
  • Sanitize work surfaces before and after each makeup application
  • Use disposable applicators for cream and liquid products when possible
  • Never blow on brushes or use your mouth to moisten products
  • Keep your makeup kit organized and free from dust and debris
  • Ensure your personal hygiene is impeccable; nails should be clean and well-maintained
  • Tie back long hair when working on clients

Professional Conduct

  • Treat fellow students, models, and instructors with respect at all times
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be open to feedback and constructive criticism
  • Avoid disruptive behavior such as excessive talking during demonstrations
  • Cell phones should be silenced and put away during class time
  • Dress appropriately in all-black attire that is clean, comfortable, and professional
  • Practice discretion and confidentiality regarding clients and their personal information
  • Maintain a clean workstation and participate in studio cleanup duties

Photography & Portfolio

  • Always obtain written consent before photographing models or fellow students
  • Credit photographers, models, and other artists when sharing work
  • Studio photography equipment is available for portfolio shoots by appointment only
  • Students are encouraged to document their work for portfolios, but not during instructional time
  • Portfolio review sessions are scheduled throughout the course; be prepared to present your work

Assessments & Certification

  • Complete all assignments and practical assessments on time
  • Participate actively in all skill demonstrations and practice sessions
  • Minimum passing grade is 75% for both written and practical assessments
  • Final certification requires successful completion of all course modules
  • Certification may be withheld if attendance requirements are not met

Important Note

These guidelines are in place to prepare you for professional industry standards and to create a positive learning environment. Violation of these rules may result in a warning, and repeated violations may lead to dismissal from the program without refund.

We believe in open communication. If you have concerns about any of these policies, please speak with your instructor or contact our administration office.

Model Release Information

Guidelines for working with and as models in our courses

Throughout your course, you will both work as a makeup artist and serve as a model for fellow students. This hands-on approach ensures you understand the client experience and develop empathy as an artist.

When You Are the Model

  • Arrive with a clean, moisturized face free of makeup
  • Inform your assigned artist of any allergies or sensitivities
  • Provide constructive feedback in a respectful manner
  • Remain still during application unless asked to move
  • Sign the model release form for class photography if comfortable

When You Are the Artist

  • Discuss the look with your model before beginning
  • Ask about allergies, sensitivities, and comfort levels
  • Explain products and techniques as you apply them
  • Be receptive to feedback and instructor guidance
  • Ensure your model is comfortable throughout the process

For advanced courses and final assessments, you may be required to bring in external models. Guidelines for working with external models will be provided during your course.
